How The Lyndah Kayson Confidence Circle Foundation collects, uses, and protects your personal information.
Who we are
The Lyndah Kayson Confidence Circle Foundation ("the Foundation", "we", "us") is a community based in Spintex, Accra, Ghana, for people living with visible skin conditions. We are responsible for the personal information collected through lkccfoundation.org (the "website").
This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We follow Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
If you have any questions, email admin@lkccfoundation.org or call +233 50 995 2190.
Information you give us
We only collect what you choose to share through the website's forms:
- Contact form: your name, email address, the topic, and your message.
- Booking a session: your name, email address, the time you choose, and anything you write about what you'd like to talk about.
- Donations: your name, email address, and the amount you give. You enter your card or Mobile Money details on Paystack's checkout, not on our website, and we never see or store them.
- Joining the Circle as a member, volunteer, or partner: your name, email address, and any details you add.
- Newsletter: your email address.
- Event RSVPs: your name, email address, the number of guests, and any notes.
- Sharing your story: the name or initials you give, your email address, and your story.
Team members who sign in to our dashboard also give us their name, email address, and role. Their passwords are stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form.
Information about your skin and health
Some of what you share may describe a skin condition or how it affects you. The law treats health information as especially sensitive, and so do we.
Please share only what you're comfortable with. Booking notes and messages are optional. When you choose to include health details, you consent to us using them for the reason you shared them, such as preparing for your session or answering your question. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
Information collected automatically
We don't use analytics, advertising, or tracking tools on this website.
Like any website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when a page is requested, such as your IP address, browser type, and the page visited. These logs are used only to keep the website secure and working, and are kept for a short period.
How we use your information
- To reply to your messages and questions.
- To arrange your session: we share your booking details with the team member you book with, and email you a confirmation with your private call link.
- To process your donation and keep accurate financial records.
- To send you our newsletter, only if you sign up. If you'd like to stop receiving it, just tell us.
- To organize the events and workshops you sign up for.
- To read the stories you send us. We will only publish a story with your clear permission, and only under the name or initials you choose.
- To keep the website and our community safe, and to meet our legal obligations.
Depending on the situation, we rely on your consent, on what's needed to provide something you've asked for, on our legitimate interest in running the Foundation, or on a legal obligation. We never sell or rent your personal information, and we never use it for advertising.
Storing information outside Ghana
Some of the services above store or process information outside Ghana, including in the United States and the European Union. When that happens, we use established providers that apply recognized security and privacy safeguards.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the reason it was collected. For example, booking details are kept while your session is upcoming and for a reasonable period afterward in case you need follow-up, and donation records are kept for as long as accounting and legal rules require. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.
How we protect it
The website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Only team members who need personal information can access it, and dashboard passwords are stored in hashed form. Every video call gets its own long, randomly generated link.
No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your call link private and tell us right away if you think something has gone wrong.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2012, you can:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your information.
- Withdraw your consent, or object to how we use your information.
- Ask us to stop sending you our newsletter at any time.
To make a request, email admin@lkccfoundation.org. We may need to confirm your identity first. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
Children and young people
Our community welcomes young people, but anyone under 18 should have a parent or guardian's permission before filling in a form or booking a session. If you're a parent or guardian and think your child has shared information with us, contact us and we'll help.
Links to other websites
Our website links to other services, including Instagram, TikTok, Paystack, and Jitsi Meet. Their own privacy policies apply when you use them.
Changes to this policy
If the way we handle information changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we'll make that clear on the website.
